Why are companies so bad at change ?
And no, it’s not the employees
‘It’s the people. The employees. They’re the ones who sabotage any attempt at making change.’
Is it though ?
Is it really ?
I’d argue the opposite. I’d say that employees are DYING for change to happen.
People couldn’t be more ready.
They’re watching as their organisations remain blind to the world changing at breakneck speed around them.
They’re wondering what the heck is the C-Suite doing in their meetings all day, if not to discuss where to take the company next. What change to implement in the face of all the societal challenges facing us.
Most importantly, they’re watching incumbents flood the market, small, nimble, ressourceful, and they know that it’s only a matter of time before those incumbents catch up with their organisation, and overtake it.
They watch in horror as the company truts along, repeating the same mechanisms day in day out : the same old cumbersome planning exercises, the approval processes, the decision-making or lack thereof even after hours of sitting in meetings.
The reality is, people aren’t averse to change.
