We’re all cyborgs already anyway

You might not realise it yet, but you’re a cyborg.

At least according to Elon Musk.

‘You have a machine extension of yourself in the form of your phone. If you don’t bring your phone along, it’s like you have missing limb syndrome’, says Musk.

So since we can’t live without our phones anymore, Musk wants to make things easier for us by removing the hassle of having to reach out for the phone and go through futile motions like, you know, type and stuff.

Musk, via his company Neuralink, wants to put a chip inside you brain, in case you didn’t know.

Of course, brilliant marketer that he is, Musk is presenting this as a revolution in healthcare. He talks about Neuralink’s potential to cure eyesight, hearing disabilities, dementia, and restore full mobility to quadriplegics, amongst other feats.

Which sounds amazing. It truly does.

The person inside me who cheered him on when Tesla took the automotive industry by storm and got it out of its delusion of thinking it could keep milking fossil fuels dry while selling a far-away future of electric cars, wants to cheer him on now too.
